Church of Uganda Primary School Headteachers Convene for Workshop on Improved Performance

On the 28th and 29th of January 2020, headteachers of Church of Uganda Primary Schools gathered at Mbarara Junior School for a workshop organized by the Education Department of Ankole Diocese. The goal of the workshop was to chart a way forward on how schools in the diocese can set new goals, recommendations, and excel for all pupils.

The workshop was opened by Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, who expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the head teachers. He emphasized the importance of training children in head, heart, and hand, rather than focusing on just one area.

During the workshop, the headteachers discussed the Ankole Diocese COU PLE results which showed that they contributed 1.6% towards the national first-grade percentage pass of 10.1%. The headteachers expressed their gratitude to God for the improved performance.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa cautioned headteachers to aim to understand their pupils and develop them accordingly. He emphasized that this understanding would lead to better performance by the students.

The workshop provided an opportunity for the headteachers to collaborate, share ideas, and learn new strategies to help their pupils excel academically. It was a successful event that left the headteachers feeling motivated and equipped to take on the challenges that lie ahead.

In conclusion, the Church of Uganda Primary School headteachers’ workshop was a step in the right direction towards improving the quality of education in the Ankole Diocese. It was a reminder that by working together, sharing knowledge, and implementing new strategies, we can achieve great results and help our pupils reach their full potential.
