FATHERS UNION

“Yesu Naamara” “Jesus Is All Sufficient” (Col. 2:9-10)

ANKOLE DIOCESE FATHERS UNION

In Ankole Diocese Fathers’ Union started in 1989 at all Saints Church – Mbarara by Rev. Canon William Ganaafa being blessed by the late Rt. Rev. Amos Betungura, by then the Bishop of Ankole Diocese. The idea was borrowed from Mukono Diocese.

Fathers’ Union membership is a fellowship of married men in church of Uganda with Primary focus of mobilizing and equipping them for ministry in the church and community.

Fathers’ Union did not have any Coordination at the Diocesan level like Mothers’ Union. It has all along been women coming together in Mothers’ Union and you can see how active women are in the Development of the church and in life.
In 2015, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa (The Fifth Bishop of Ankole Diocese) established a Fathers’ Union Office at the Diocese to coordinate Fathers’ Union activities. We greatly thank Bishop Sheldon for this initiative and for establishing this coordination office which deals with tasks of binding efforts in order to ensure successful attainment of fathers’ Union objectives.
