On 06th July 2024, Ruharo Mission Hospital(RMH) held a fundraising function for the purchase of the x-ray machine worth 300m at Bishop’s office grounds. The function was officiated by the Rt. Rev. Assoc. Prof. Sheldon and Maama Dr Alice Mwesigwa accompanied by Archdeacons, heads of department Ankole Diocese, House of Clergy, heads of Educational institutions and Christians of Ankole Diocese. The function was also attended by Hon. Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo the chair board of governors of Ruharo Mission Hospital and represented Dr. Chris Baryomunsi Minister for ICT and National Guidance, members of Board of Governors and staff of RMH. The function began with Bishop Sheldon Mwesigwa sharing from Mark 12:42-44 about a lady who gave two coins that she only had. He challenged the faithful to give back from the many God has blessed them with. He noted that RMH is a non-profit hospital that seeks to meet people’s health needs. He thanked church leaders for raising 99m for the cause. He in a special way thanked Dr Medard Bitekyerezo who mobilized 67m for a job well done and leading well the hospital as chair board of governors. He asked God to bless everyone who contributed and turned up for the event. He announced 200m was raised for the X-ray machine of Ruharo Mission Hospital. Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo, the chair of the Board, thanked the Bishop for trusting him with great responsibility. He pledged to continue lobbying from the government for more support to the hospital. He called on Doctors, surgeons and nurses of RMH to make the hospital a comfortable place for the patients by treating them well. He noted that in the near future RMH will almost cater for all medical services. During the fundraising Mrs Cruner Katunda bought a cow at 4.75m. The first three Archdeacons in mobilizing funds for the digital Xray machine namely Ven Rev Patrick Atuhaire of Greater Mbarara, Ven Rev Turyasingura of Rutooma and Ven Rev. Erasmus Nkuruziza of Kanywamaizi were given gifts by Bishop Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa who in turn asked the congregation to give a standing ovation to Hon Dr Medard Bitekyerezo for his mobilization of resources for Ankole Diocese and the numerous contributions to the Diocese.
