Background of Mothers' Union in Ankole Diocese

Mothers’ Union was introduced into Kigezi- Ankole Diocese in
1914. Then in Ankole Diocese the idea of Mothers’ Union was
initiated by Mrs. Flore Clayton in 1924. It was officially introduced
at the Diocesan headquarters by Rev. Florence Spetume Njagali
in 1957 as the first Mothers’ Union Worker. Rev. Florence Njagali
was ordained from Hoima and she was the first woman to be
Ordained in the Province of the Church of Uganda. She was
succeeded by Mrs. Mrs. Naome Bishaka who worked closely
with her. Since then, this is the lineup Ministry for Mothers’ Union
Workers and Coordinators in Ankole Diocese;

RESPONSIBILITIES

Mothers Union section is responsible for Planning, Implementation and Coordination of Mothers Union Programmes in the Diocese, organizing courses, workshops and seminars for women and Mothers Union leaders in the Diocese , initiating counseling sections for Mothers Union Members and others. It is also currently coordinating Christian women Fellowship activities and Ankole Diocese Women Investment Association (ADWIA)

Mothers Union Section is head by Mothers Union President who is Dr.Jenninah Mwesigye  and a Mothers Union Community Coordinator who is Rev.Julian Kiiriza.

Mothers Union Family Complex

As of 5th March 2021, the first floor of Mothers Union Family Complex has been completed and ready for occupation. The building will handle the following Rental shops, Business offices, Conference hall, Livelihood training center, restaurant, among others
